The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Barsy Atyrau as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Barsy Atyrau defeated 5th ranked Aktobe at home 84-78. They outrebounded Aktobe 39-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Barsy Atyrau looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a good game for American guard Eric McGill (190-1996, college: SIU) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import power forward Devin Gilmore (200-1997, college: Murray St.) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Barsy Atyrau's coach Tigran Gyokchyan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Vassiliy Petrishinets (198-1989) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Sergei Bormatenkov (191-1991) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Aktobe. Barsy Atyrau have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Aktobe lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Aktobe will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Barsy Atyrau will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Irbis in Almaty.
