Regular Season Round 25: Bars - Caspiy Aktau 75-77

The most exciting game of round 25 in the Higher League took place in Petropavlovsk. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Bars (21-3) to tenth ranked Caspiy Aktau (8-15) 77-75 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Strangely Bars outrebounded Caspiy Aktau 49-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Zahar Medovskoy (188-2006) stepped up and scored 16 points and 4 assists for the winners and swingman Dmitry Denisov (194-2005) chipped in 17 points. Four Caspiy Aktau players scored in double figures. Caspiy Aktau's coach Evgeny Gorev used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Artem Parfenov (196-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Caspiy Aktau moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Gotobeles. Bars at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Caspiy Aktau is looking forward to face higher ranked Barsy 2 (#7) in Atyrau in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bars will play on the road against ChelSU (#10) in Kostanay and are hoping to win this game.
