Regular Season Round 37: Jiangsu D. - Beijing RF 85-94

There was a small surprise in Nanjing where sixteenth ranked Royal Fighters (11-22) beat 14th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (15-19) 94-85 on Monday. Royal Fighters dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Jiangsu Dragons' 34. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Royal Fighters made 7 blocks. American point guard Trae Golden (189-1991, college: Georgia Tech) stepped up and scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and the former international center Changdong Yu (206-1991) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Antonio Blakeney (193-1996, college: LSU) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and forward Zhou Zhao (198-1995) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Royal Fighters maintains sixteenth place with 11-22 record. Jiangsu Dragons lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Qingdao E.. Royal Fighters will meet higher ranked Loongs (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangsu Dragons will play against the league's leader Golden Bulls (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
