An exciting game was played in Almaty. Turan faced Tomiris. Guests from Turkistan (19-0) smashed host Tomiris (12-8) 76-57. Turan forced 19 Tomiris turnovers and outrebounded them 53-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian power forward Ganna Rulyova (183-1986, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Zalina Kurazova (185-1985) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Turan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Dilnaz Yerkebay (179-2003) who recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds and Russian forward Darya Kamasheva (181-2005) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turan are looking forward to face Caspiy Aktau (#5) at home in the next round. Tomiris will play against Astana Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
