Regular Season Round 45: Fukushima - Yamagata 70-62

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Yamagata (19-28) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Fukushima (22-25) 70-62 on Sunday. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-1989, college: Kentucky) chipped in 9 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Thomas Welsh (213-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds and the other American import James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fukushima maintains fourth place with 22-25 record, which they share with Ehime OV. Loser Yamagata keeps the sixth position with 28 games lost. Fukushima will meet Kagawa FA (#7) in the next round. Yamagata will play against the league's second-placed Koshigaya A. and hope to secure a win.
