Regular Season Round 36: Guangdong ST - Guangsha L. 98-96

Eleventh-ranked Guangsha Lions (17-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Guandong Tigers (26-6) in Dongguan on Saturday. Guandong Tigers managed to secure only two-point victory 98-96. However their fans expected much easier game. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Guangsha Lions' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and international point guard Jie Xu (181-2000) who added 16 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international center Jinqiu Hu (211-1997) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Will Cummings (188-1992, college: Temple) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Guandong Tigers and four Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guandong Tigers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 26-6 record having just two points less than leader Zhejiang GB. Guangsha Lions at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Loongs (#8) in Taiyuan in the next round where they are favorite. Guangsha Lions will play at home against Pioneers (#19) and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
