There was no surprise when 3rd ranked Kumamoto V. (26-20) was defeated at home by first ranked Chiba (35-11) 93-83 on Saturday. Chiba made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Leo Lyons (206-1987, college: Missouri) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Kei Sugimoto (182-1992) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Chiba players scored in double figures. American center Jamel McLean (202-1988, college: Xavier) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and guard Hiroaki Isono (186-1998) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Kumamoto V.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba maintains first position with 35-11 record.
