Regular Season Round 35: KCC Egis - LG Sakers 57-87

Very expected game when 6th ranked KCC Egis (19-26) were smashed by second ranked LG Sakers (31-15) in Jeonju 87-57 on Thursday. LG Sakers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to KCC Egis' 42. They outrebounded KCC Egis 41-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Jae-Do Lee (180-1991) accounted for 13 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Guard Chang-Young Jung (192-1988) came up with 11 points and American-Ivorian power forward Deon Thompson (204-1988, college: UNC, agency: Slash Sports) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for KCC Egis in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. LG Sakers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 31-15 record having just three points less than leader Anyang. Loser KCC Egis keep the sixth position with 26 games lost. They share it with Suwon KT. LG Sakers will meet Goyang (#5) in the next round. KCC Egis will play against Seoul Thunders and hope to secure a win.
