Regular Season Round 11: Tobol - Barsy Atyrau 64-72

Top ranked Tobol (15-9) recorded its ninth loss in Kostanay on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Barsy Atyrau (13-7) 72-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tobol. Barsy Atyrau looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Eric McGill (190-1996, college: SIU) who had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. His fellow American import power forward Devin Gilmore (200-1997, college: Murray St.) chipped in 19 points. Barsy Atyrau's coach Tigran Gyokchyan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Russian Daniil Posashkov (198-2000) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Anton Bykov (200-1989) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Barsy Atyrau maintains second place with 13-7 record having six points less than leader Tobol. Tobol at the other side still keeps top position with nine games lost. Barsy Atyrau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tobol will play at home against Irbis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
