The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Amman: Al Ahli and Al Riyadi. Al Ahli crushed visiting Al Riyadi by 30 points 116-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Al Riyadi's 46. They outrebounded Al Riyadi 50-36 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Ahli looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Al Riyadi's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Ahli made 9 blocks. American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international guard Amin Abuhawwas (190-1994, college: Mars Hill) chipped in 29 points. Tarin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Malek Kanaan (182-1993, college: W.Valley JC) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
