Regular Season Round 38: Shizuoka - Toyoda 86-82

Very expected game when 8th ranked Toyoda (16-23) lost on the road to first ranked Shizuoka (35-4) 86-82 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds by Australian center Andrew Ferguson (213-1998, college: CS Monterey) did not help to save the game for Toyoda. Point guard Ren Takemura (170-1995) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Shizuoka have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 35-4 record. Toyoda at the other side keeps the eighth place with 23 games lost. Shizuoka will again meet at home Toyoda (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Toyoda will have a break next round.
