Regular Season Round 20: Steelers - Lioneers 86-89

Sixth-ranked Steelers (3-16) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Lioneers (10-11) in Kaohsiung on Sunday. Lioneers managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected easier game. Lioneers forced 21 Steelers turnovers. Strangely Steelers outrebounded Lioneers 52-40 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Canadian forward Anthony Bennett (203-1993, college: UNLV) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the former international power forward Will Artino (211-1992, college: Creighton) supported him with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Lioneers' coach Greg Lin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds by Ukrainian center Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-1987, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Steelers. The former international center Cheng-Ju Lu (194-1986) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Lioneers. Four Steelers players scored in double figures. Lioneers maintains fourth position with 10-11 record. Steelers lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Lioneers will meet league's leader Pilots in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Steelers will play against Dreamers (#5) in Changhua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
