Regular Season Round 37: Shinshu BW - Kawasaki BT 75-74

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Kawasaki BT (21-15) in Nagano on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Shinshu BW (18-18) 75-74. Strangely Kawasaki BT outrebounded Shinshu BW 42-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Yuta Okada (189-1998) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. At the losing side the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-1985, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-1991) scored 21 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kawasaki BT's coach Kenji Sato tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinshu BW maintains third place with 18-18 record having just three points less than leader Shimane SM, which they share with FE Nagoya. Kawasaki BT at the other side still keeps top position with 15 games lost. They share it with Yokohama BC. Shinshu BW is looking forward to face Hitachi SRT (#5) in Tokyo in the next round. Kawasaki BT will play at home against Shiga L-Stars (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
