Regular Season Round 11: Hangtuah - Pelita Jaya 78-99
Date: January 31, 2023
Very expected game in Jakarta where 12th ranked Hangtuah (1-5) was crushed by sixth ranked Pelita Jaya (5-1) 99-78 on Tuesday. Pelita Jaya dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hangtuah's 32. Pelita Jaya forced 22 Hangtuah turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Dominique Sutton (193-1986, college: NCCU) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Yesaya Saudale (178-2000) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. South Sudanese-Australian power forward Emmanuel Malou (206-1993, college: Iowa St.) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Diftha Pratama (183-1989) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Pelita Jaya. They moved-up to fourth place. Hangtuah lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. They share it with NSH and Evos Bogor. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
