Regular Season Round 35: Nagoya DD - Shinshu BW 58-82

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Nagoya DD (25-9) was smashed at home by third ranked Shinshu BW (17-17) 82-58 on Sunday. Shinshu BW had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Ko Kumagai (173-1996) accounted for 17 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. American power forward Scott Eatherton (206-1991, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and American-Filipino guard Ray Parks (193-1993, agency: BIG) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Nagoya DD in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shinshu BW maintains third place with 17-17 record having thirteen points less than leader Yokohama BC, which they share with Osaka E. and Tochigi Brex. Loser Nagoya DD keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Ryukyu GK. Shinshu BW will meet at home league's second-placed Kawasaki BT in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nagoya DD will play against Sendai 89ers and hope to secure a win.
