Very significant was Meralco Bolts' 107-102 road victory against North Port. They outrebounded North Port 57-35 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Meralco Bolts players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. North Port was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman K.J. McDaniels (198-1993, college: Clemson) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Chris Newsome (187-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) accounted for 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Marcus Weathers (196-1997, college: SMU) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Shej Roi Sumang (177-1991) added 23 points and 6 assists respectively for North Port in the defeat. Five Meralco Bolts and four North Port players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Meralco Bolts will play against Terrafirma Dyip in Makati City in the next round which should be an easy win for them. North Port will play on the road against NLEX RW in Makati City to get more than just one victory in their record.
