There was a minor upset when 17th ranked Blue Whales (7-21) lost to nineteenth ranked Sturgeons (6-22) in Sichuan 105-122 on Wednesday. Sturgeons looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-1989, college: Indianapolis) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Linjian Chen (197-1993) accounted for 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) came up with a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 10 assists and Ruoyu Su (206-1991) added 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for Blue Whales in the defeat. Five Sturgeons and four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sturgeons have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with Tianjin. Blue Whales lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 21 games lost.
