Not a big story in a game in Dongguan where 17th ranked Blue Whales (7-20) were outplayed by third ranked Guandong Tigers (21-5) 119-99 on Monday. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 30. They outrebounded Blue Whales 48-25 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists. American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Croatian-American power forward Justin Hamilton (213-1990, college: LSU) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists and 5 steals and Zhennian Zuo (201-1996) scored 18 points. Five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers maintains third position with 21-5 record behind leader Zhejiang GB. Blue Whales lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 20 games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet at home league's second-placed Flying Leopards in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Blue Whales will play against Sturgeons (#19) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
