Everything went according to plan in Tokyo where seventh ranked Hitachi Cougars (9-7) beat 11th ranked Haneda V. (3-11) 90-80 on Sunday. Hitachi Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda V.'s 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Senegalese center Daramee Malem-Doi (187-1997) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Hoshi Aka (170-1995) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Takano Hashikouta (168-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Makoto Hoshizawa (182-1995) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Cougars have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Haneda V. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Hitachi Cougars will meet league's leader Toyota A. in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Haneda V. will play against the league's second-placed Mitsubishi K.
