WJBL top team - Toyota A. (14-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Chanson V-M (8-7) in Shizuoka 71-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chanson V-M. It was a quality performance for the former international center Stephanie Mawuli (182-1998) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. The former international forward Mika Fujitaka (178-1989) accounted for 9 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Nigerian center Izoje Uche (188-2004) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds and point guard Kuke Haruka (166-1995) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Chanson V-M in the defeat. Toyota A. have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Loser Chanson V-M dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Hitachi Cougars. Toyota A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanson V-M will play again against the league's leader Toyota A. (#1) and hope to secure a win.
