Regular Season Round 17: Al Ahli - Al Taawoun 106-82

SBL top team - Al Ahli (15-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Al Taawoun (3-14) in Jeddah 106-82. Al Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. American forward Deandre Liggins (198-1988, college: Kentucky) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Marzouq Almuwallad (180-1992) accounted for 19 points and 9 assists. Al Ahli's coach Ali Alsanhani felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-1992, agency: BeoBasket) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and American guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Domantay Sports) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Al Taawoun in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Ahli. They maintain first place with 15-1 record. Newly promoted Al Taawoun keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Al Adalah. Al Ahli will play against Deba (#8) in Tabuk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Taawoun will play at home against Al Salam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
