Regular Season Round 29: Ningbo R. - Shandong H. 76-114
Date: January 13, 2023
There was no surprise in Ningbo where 20th ranked Rockets (2-24) were outplayed by seventh ranked Heroes (15-11) 114-76 on Friday. Heroes forced 19 Rockets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Rockets' players. The best player for the winners was American-Austrian swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-1990, college: Virginia, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-1988, college: NM State) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Montenegrin forward Marko Todorovic (208-1992) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard Brandon Taylor (178-1994, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Heroes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 15-11 record, which they share with Xinjiang FT and Nanjing TX MK. Rockets lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 24 lost games. Heroes will meet at home higher ranked Sharks (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rockets will play against Flying Tigers (#9) and hope to secure a win.
