An exciting game was played in Amman. Second ranked Al Ahli faced 4th ranked Al Jubaiha. Host Al Ahli (5-1) smashed guests from Al Jubaiha (2-4) 108-70. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Al Jubaiha's 36. Al Ahli forced 24 Al Jubaiha turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Al Jubaiha's players. Al Ahli brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Amin Abuhawwas (190-1994, college: Mars Hill) contributed with 32 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Tarin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Ahmad Hammourri replied with 24 points and Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Al Jubaiha. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Orthodox. Al Jubaiha at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Kofer Yoba. Al Ahli will play against bottom-ranked Al Ashrafiyah (#6) in the next round. Al Jubaiha will play against Kofer Yoba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
