The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Golden Bulls (20-4) in Hangzhou on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by eighteenth ranked Pioneers (5-20) 96-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Golden Bulls. Pioneers looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-1991, college: MSU Denver) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 assists. The other American import guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-1996, college: MSU) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Pioneers' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Moses Wright (206-1998, college: Georgia Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and forward Zeyi Liu (202-1999) added 16 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Golden Bulls. Four Pioneers and five Golden Bulls players scored in double figures. Pioneers maintains eighteenth position with 5-20 record. Golden Bulls at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. They share the position with Guangdong ST. Pioneers are looking forward to face Sturgeons (#19) in Jinjiang in the next round. Golden Bulls will play at home against Royal Fighters (#16) and are hoping to win this game.
