Regular Season Round 28: Shanghai S. - Jiangsu D. 90-84
Date: January 11, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (13-11) lost to fifth ranked Sharks (16-8) in Shanghai 84-90 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sharks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Eric Bledsoe (185-1989, college: Kentucky) who scored that evening 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) supported him with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Sharks' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) by American guard Antonio Blakeney (193-1996, college: LSU) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu Dragons. Guard Xiaolong Cui (194-1999) added 13 points and 10 assists for lost side. Four Jiangsu Dragons players scored in double figures. Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 16-8 record. Loser Jiangsu Dragons dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Sharks will meet at home Aviators (#6) in the next round. Jiangsu Dragons will play against Flying Tigers (#9) in Urumqi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
