Regular Season Round 24: Shizuoka - Gifu 96-67
Date: January 7, 2023
Leader Shizuoka delivered the twenty fourth victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked Gifu (10-16) 96-67. Shizuoka players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 5 rebounds. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. American forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gifu. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shizuoka (24-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Gifu lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Tokyo HT. Shizuoka will again play against Gifu (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gifu will have a break next round.
