There was an upset in Sichuan where higher ranked Jilin Tigers (11-11) were defeated by seventeenth ranked Blue Whales (6-16) 114-110 on Wednesday. Blue Whales outrebounded Jilin Tigers 49-32 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-1985, agency: BIG) who added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Blue Whales' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Dominique Jones (193-1988, college: S.Florida) with a triple-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals and center Ang Lee (209-1990) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Five Blue Whales and four Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Blue Whales maintains seventeenth position with 6-16 record. Loser Jilin Tigers dropped to the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Blue Whales will meet higher ranked Ducks (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jilin Tigers will play against Royal Fighters (#16) and hope to secure a win.
