Regular Season Round 11: Eneos S. - Hitachi Cougars 73-94

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Hitachi Cougars (5-7) rolled over higher ranked Eneos S. (6-4) in Kashiwa 94-73 on Friday. Hitachi Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Eneos S.'s 24. They outrebounded Eneos S. 47-35 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hitachi Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Eneos S.'s players. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Shirashi Ikuri (172-1994) who led the winners and scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Saori Ohara (184-2000) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Five Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Fujimoto Mako (179-1999) came up with 26 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international Saori Miyazaki (167-1995) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Eneos S. in the defeat. Hitachi Cougars maintains ninth place with 5-7 record. Loser Eneos S. dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
