Regular Season Round 22: Nagasaki - Tokyo Z 93-75

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Tokyo Z (5-19) was defeated on the road by second ranked Nagasaki (16-8) 93-75 on Saturday. Nagasaki looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman L.J. Peak (196-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Nagasaki players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Reginald Buckner (206-1991, college: Ole Miss) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 20 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Addison Spruill (195-1993, college: UNCW) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second position with 16-8 record having just three points less than leader Chiba. Tokyo Z at the other side keeps the seventh place with 19 games lost. Nagasaki will again meet at home Tokyo Z (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo Z will have a break next round.
