Regular Season Round 8: Irbis - Tobol 87-88

Important game to mention about took place in Almaty. Second ranked Tobol (10-8) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Irbis (8-8) 88-87 in the game for the second place. Irbis were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International forward Anton Bykov (200-1989) saved the victory by scoring 31 points and 9 rebounds. International point guard Shaim Kuanov (181-1991) contributed with 15 points and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Aaron Felix (187-1987) replied with 29 points and 5 rebounds and international center Robert Pan (202-1995) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Irbis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Irbis' coach Evgeni Isakov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tobol maintains second position with 10-8 record having just two point less than leader Barsy Atyrau. Newly promoted Irbis keep the third place with eight games lost. Tobol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Irbis will play on the road against the league's leader Barsy Atyrau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
