Regular Season Round 21: Sendai 89ers - Yokohama BC 61-88

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (7-14) were rolled over at home by third ranked Yokohama BC (11-10) 88-61 on Sunday. Yokohama BC dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sendai 89ers' 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Center Charles Jackson (208-1993, college: Tenn Tech) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and Devin Oliver (204-1992, college: Dayton) chipped in 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sendai 89ers' coach Hiroki Fujita gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Yokohama BC moved-up to second place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Yokohama BC will meet at home Osaka E. (#6) in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Hitachi SRT in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
