Very expected game when 19th ranked Sturgeons (2-12) were smashed by ninth ranked Monkey Kings (8-6) in Jinjiang 140-103 on Saturday. Monkey Kings made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Sturgeons turnovers and outrebounded them 49-37 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Monkey Kings shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 40 assists comparing to just 26 passes made by Sturgeons' players. It was an exceptional evening for South Sudanese-Australian center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. American point guard QJ Peterson (183-1994, college: VMI) accounted for 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Australian-South Sudanese center Thon Maker (216-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international Linjian Chen (197-1993) added 26 points and 6 assists respectively for Sturgeons in the defeat. Four Sturgeons players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Monkey Kings moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Beijing D. Loser Sturgeons keep the nineteenth position with 12 games lost. Monkey Kings will meet at home Royal Fighters (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sturgeons will play against Ducks (#8) and hope to secure a win.
