We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Irtysh (7-5) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Caspiy Aktau (6-5) 72-66 on Tuesday. Irtysh forced 21 Caspiy Aktau turnovers. Strangely Caspiy Aktau outrebounded Irtysh 45-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by point guard Liya Umerova (166-2002) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Yekaterina Gammer (174-2003) supported her with 25 points and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds by center Valeria Petrova (184-1996) did not help to save the game for Caspiy Aktau. The former international center Anastasiya Ilyasova (185-1998) added 17 points and 8 rebounds. Irtysh moved-up to fourth place. Loser Caspiy Aktau dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Aktobe. Irtysh will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caspiy Aktau will play against the league's leader Turan (#1) in Turkistan and hope to secure a win.
