Regular Season Round 8: Fujitsu RW - Hitachi Cougars 61-67

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Fujitsu RW (6-2) in Kawasaki on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by eleventh ranked Hitachi Cougars (3-5) 67-61. Hitachi Cougars made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Hitachi Cougars outrebounded Fujitsu RW 56-39 including 27 on the offensive glass. Saori Ohara (184-2000) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Senegalese center Daramee Malem-Doi (187-1997) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Fujimoto Aki (182-1998) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and power forward Mamiko Tanaka (180-1996) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fujitsu RW. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Aishin AW. Fujitsu RW at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Hitachi Cougars is looking forward to face Aranmare A. (#10) in Akita in the next round. Fujitsu RW will play at home against the league's leader Mitsubishi K. (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
