There was no surprise in Nagoya where 10th ranked Niigata R. (1-4) was crushed by third ranked Toyota A. (6-1) 100-60 on Saturday. Toyota A. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 28 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Niigata R. 42-22 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyota A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Niigata R.'s players. It was a great evening for international Kiho Miyashita (178-1998) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international forward Mika Fujitaka (178-1989) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard Nakamura Hana (172-2003) responded with 22 points and Naomi Kitagawa (174-1994) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toyota A.. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fujitsu RW and Mitsubishi K. Niigata R. lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth place with four games lost. Toyota A. will again meet at home Niigata R. (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Niigata R. will have a break next round.
