Regular Season Round 18: Veertien Mie - Toyoda 96-89

There was a minor upset in Yokkaichi where 12th ranked Toyoda (6-13) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Veertien Mie (6-13) 96-89 on Saturday. Veertien Mie made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) who scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import Eugene Artison (206-1995, college: USAO, agency: One Motive Sports) chipped in 20 points. Veertien Mie's coach Masao Kuda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Hajime Imabayashi (184-1999) who recorded 15 points and 5 assists and German center Yasin Kolo (208-1992, college: Bellarmine) added 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively. Four Veertien Mie and five Toyoda players scored in double figures. Veertien Mie moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Toyoda. Veertien Mie will again meet at home Toyoda (#14) in the next round. Toyoda will have a break next round.
