Regular Season Round 9: Lioneers - Pilots 79-102

The game between third ranked Lioneers (4-4) and fifth ranked Pilots (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Lioneers were crushed by Pilots 102-79. They made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Pilots outrebounded Lioneers 50-38 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lioneers' players. American forward Jeff Ayres (206-1987, college: Arizona St., agency: Slash Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (204-1988) chipped in 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Hao Tien (173-1998) with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Canadian forward Anthony Bennett (203-1993, college: UNLV) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pilots moved-up to fourth place. Lioneers at the other side keep the third position with four games lost. Pilots are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Steelers (#6) in Kaohsiung in the next round. Lioneers will have a break next round.
