Very expected game in Changwon where 7th ranked KoGas (7-10) were defeated by second ranked LG Sakers (12-8) 86-76 on Wednesday. Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized American guard Justin Gutang (191-1997, college: Skyline JC) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American forward Murphy Holloway (201-1990, college: Ole Miss, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Senegalese center Youssou Ndoye (213-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four KoGas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. LG Sakers maintains second place with 12-8 record having just two points less than leader Anyang. Loser KoGas dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. LG Sakers will meet at home bottom-ranked Suwon KT (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KoGas will play against Wonju DB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
