Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Yamaguchi (6-12) and Gifu (5-13), which took place in Gifu. Higher ranked Yamaguchi lost to fifteenth ranked Gifu in a road game 84-98. Gifu dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Yamaguchi's 46. They outrebounded Yamaguchi 50-18 including a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gifu players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Lithuanian center Matas Jucikas (205-1994, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gifu moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Veertien Mie. Yamaguchi at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Toyoda. Gifu will play against higher ranked Tokyo HT (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamaguchi will play against Tachikawa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
