An interesting game for Barsy Atyrau (6-6) which hosted in Atyrau top-ranked Tobol (8-4). Third ranked Barsy Atyrau had an easy win 102-80. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Barsy Atyrau dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tobol's 26. Barsy Atyrau forced 22 Tobol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American guard Eric McGill (190-1996, college: SIU) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Devin Gilmore (200-1997, college: Murray St.) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 25 points by Russian Daniil Posashkov (198-2000) did not help to save the game for Tobol. The former international swingman Pavel Ilyin (194-1992) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barsy Atyrau moved-up to second place. Loser Tobol still keeps top position with four games lost. Barsy Atyrau will meet Aktobe (#4) on the road in the next round. Tobol will have a break next round.
