Regular Season Round 12: Shinshu BW - Akita NH 83-87
Date: November 26, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Nagano where one of their biggest challengers Shinshu BW (5-7) was defeated by fifth ranked Akita NH (5-7) 87-83 on Saturday. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-1987) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Akita NH's coach Kenzo Maeda allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was point guard Ko Kumagai (173-1996) with 12 points and 5 assists and American Anthony McHenry (202-1983, college: Georgia Tech) scored 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita NH moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Yokohama BC and Shinshu BW. Akita NH will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again against Akita NH (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
