Regular Season Round 14: Toyoda - Kagoshima 75-85

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Toyoda (5-10) lost to second ranked Kagoshima (13-2) in Aichi 75-85 on Saturday. American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) notched 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Logan Routt (211-1997, college: WVU) supported him with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kagoshima's coach Predrag Krunic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds by German center Yasin Kolo (208-1992, college: Bellarmine) did not help to save the game for Toyoda. Point guard Ren Takemura (170-1995) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Kagoshima have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-2 record behind leader Shizuoka. Loser Toyoda dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Yamaguchi. Kagoshima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyoda will play again against the league's second-placed Kagoshima (#2) and hope to secure a win.
