Regular Season Round 14: Kanazawa - Saitama 67-103
Date: November 25, 2022
Rather expected game when 9th ranked Kanazawa (6-10) was smashed by sixth ranked Saitama (11-5) in Ishikawa 103-67 on Friday. Saitama outrebounded Kanazawa 48-26 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Will Creekmore (205-1989, college: Missouri St.) notched 22 points to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Saitama players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Kanazawa. Ukrainian point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-1995, agency: BIG) added 11 points and 5 assists for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Saitama have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 11-5 record. Kanazawa lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Shanan Utd. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
