Regular Season Round 13: Shinagawa - Okayama 87-91

Date: November 20, 2022
Bottom-ranked Shinagawa (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-87 loss to fifth ranked Okayama (11-3) in Shinagawa. They outrebounded Shinagawa 36-21 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shinagawa was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kouki Wakasa (185-1997) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Point guard Kaiki Hojoh (173-2000) contributed with 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Okayama players scored in double figures. Okayama's coach Kenji Hilke used entire bench in such tough game. American forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) answered with 42 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Bahamas Mark StFort (200-1988, college: Warner) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Shinagawa. Okayama moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Iwate. Shinagawa at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Okayama will play against higher ranked Yokohama EX (#3) in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shinagawa will play on the road against Tokyo Utd (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
