Regular Season Round 10: Shimane SM - Sendai 89ers 95-62

Very expected game when 8th ranked Sendai 89ers (3-7) were smashed on the road by third ranked Shimane SM (8-2) 95-62 on Saturday. Shimane SM outrebounded Sendai 89ers 42-16 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. Shimane SM looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Reid Travis (203-1995, college: Kentucky, agency: Pensack Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Shimane SM players scored in double figures. Even 28 points by American forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) added 18 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shimane SM keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK and Hiroshima D. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Shimane SM will again meet at home Sendai 89ers (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round.
