Regular Season Round 11: Iwate - Saitama 91-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Saitama's (7-5) road loss to fifth ranked Iwate (9-3) 81-91 on Sunday. Iwate made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Toshiki Yokogawa (177-1995) accounted for 26 points and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. Iwate's coach Yukinori Suzuki used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Grant Sitton (206-1993, college: Victoria) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Saitama in the defeat. Iwate moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Okayama. Loser Saitama dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Iwate will meet Shanan Utd (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Saitama will play against Tokyo HT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
