Regular Season Round 11: Kanazawa - Shanan Utd 82-72
Date: November 13, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Shanan Utd (5-7) lost to tenth ranked Kanazawa (5-7) in Ishikawa 72-82 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for Ukrainian point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-1995, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) accounted for 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Kanazawa players scored in double figures. Kanazawa's coach Hidesuke Kuroshima used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and point guard Kodai Nakano (182-1994) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Shanan Utd in the defeat. Kanazawa moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Yamaguchi and Shanan Utd. Kanazawa will meet Tachikawa (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shanan Utd will play against Iwate (#4) and hope to secure a win.
