Regular Season Round 8: Tomiris - Barsy Atyr. 99-39

Bottom-ranked Barsy Atyr. is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Tomiris (7-1) 99-39. Tomiris dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy Atyr.'s 30. Tomiris forced 24 Barsy Atyr. turnovers and outrebounded them 54-27 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Barsy Atyr.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Diana Bushmeleva (186-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 24 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and power forward Aruzhan Askerova (182-1999) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Darya Vinogradova responded with 4 points and 12 rebounds and guard Julia Kovalchuk (161-2007) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Barsy Atyr.'s coach Oleg Accipetrov gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Tomiris have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Astana Tigers. Barsy Atyr. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. Tomiris will play against league's second-placed Astana Tigers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Barsy Atyr. will play against the league's leader Turan (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
