Regular Season Round 9: Aomori W. - Nishinomiya S. 66-82

The biggest surprise of round 9 was guest Nishinomiya S.'s (6-5) easy road victory over 3rd placed Aomori W. (5-6) 82-66 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Aomori W.. Nishinomiya S. made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aomori W. 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Trey Porter (208-1996, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Noriaki Dohara (178-1989) chipped in 19 points. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St.) who recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import center Max Hisatake (203-1998, college: IlIinois Tech) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Aomori W.'s coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to third place, which they share with Kumamoto V. Aomori W. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Fukuoka R.. Nishinomiya S. is looking forward to face Yamagata (#5) at home in the next round. Aomori W. will play against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
