Regular Season Round 8: Tachikawa - Tokyo HT 57-66
Date: November 5, 2022
Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Tokyo HT (5-4) defeated on the road 15th ranked Tachikawa (1-8) 66-57 on Saturday. They outrebounded Tachikawa 51-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 22 rebounds and the other American import forward Robert Sampson (203-1992, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Sampson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Tristin Walley (201-1996, college: Arkansas St., agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Tachikawa. Point guard Ryusei Abe (181-1995) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tokyo HT have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 5-4 record, which they share with Tokyo Utd. Tachikawa lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Gifu. Tokyo HT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tachikawa will play again against Tokyo HT (#7) and hope to win that game.
